I went to Asian Arts Museum of San Francisco, almost by accident, and caught the tail of “Drama and Desire”: an exhibition of old Japanese paintings about the Pleasure Quarters of Edo. Tomorrow, Sunday May 4, is the last day it’s running.

They included old shunga scrolls from 1700s. My eyes, I cannot unsee. Thank heavens, hentai made some good progress over the last 300 years.

BTW, those people did not bother to undress for sex, apparently.

What does this mean? I think the writing is on the wall for animebloggers: sex it up or die.

BTW, I mentioned before how I introduced buddies from my jeep club (actually, “get out into a desert and drink while watching porn” club) to anime, by showing them Dragon Half. The shock was pretty good. But better yet, it caused at least one of them to turn to hentai big way. He said, plain anime never kept his interest, but tentacles… those were intriguing.

QUICK UPDATE: Mike noticed that, outside of the screencap above, Google reports that Philippinians [*] are first in the world in hentai. Are they perverts? Well, a trend for “anime, hentai, porn” shows that Philippines is the only country in the world which looks for more anime than porn (no, seriously: the data tells that).

[*] UPDATE: Mike informed me on IRC that the country of Philippines is populated by Filipino. Is he pulling my leg or what? Sounds just crazy enough to be true…

I just do not understand how something like pant.su can come into existence (NSFW). I thought it was agreed that .su TLD were to shut down 10 years ago, and the allocation of new subdomains definitely wasn’t open. And yet, here it is, a new domain created in January of 2008.

I went to check www.ipmce.su, and it’s still up, possibly still running on the SPARCstation that I installed back in 1995. “Last updated March 26, 1998″. What a facepalm.

I’ve read the long post at Behind The Nihon Review with a great interest, but I do not have much to comment on this, except how all of that makes me think that our Child Pornography moral panic is utter bullshit (perpetrated by bible-thumping liberals, not less).

The NSFW post by a new writer at CSW does its utmost to establish the stereotypes of eroge as the vehicle of violence against women and thus does very little to interest me in the area. Choux was a more effective ambassador.

P.S. CSW is already on notice after their dubious editorial policies manifested (NSFW too). You know, I already read 180+ anime blogs…
