omonomono:

@jpmeyer maybe Lain? Do people still recommend that

@omonomono They recommend, but ABe went and fixed all the bugs in it for the Haibane release so why bother? It’s like recommending Win 3.0 when 3.11 superceded it.

Pages/Categories

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Evicted the list of categories from the sidebar into a dedicated page. Now K-ON and GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class can get their own categories. Unfortunately, re-tagging old posts is an immense pain, so I’m not sure if they will. Well at least the Zyl’s confusion is settled.

Five Stages of Kampfer

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Went to check if a contrary opinion on Summer Wars popped up, saw the strip. For the record, I always knew that Kampfer was gold.

Kampfer 11 (END)

Friday, December 11th, 2009

So, everything is explained, nothing is resolved. More later, maybe.

Oh, and also: I heard Shizuku (and Mikoto) saying “あやつられていろ” (it means “is being manipulated”). I knew that studying passive would come handy one day. There was casuative too, although I didn’t jot it.

UPDATE: A decent blow-by-blow write-up is available at Blue Blue Wave. Parts of what Kaede says wasn’t clear, in particular what does Natsuru’s sex has with anything, but this explains it (nothing, as it turned out: it’s only an indicator).

Akazukin is for little mentats

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

The most surprising thing about Akazukin is how it overflows with creepy themes, for a decidely children’s anime. A primary character who uses Uberman Schedule in order to have a better control over consequences of a childhood psychological trauma is even a mild example.

Akazukin 36

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Akazukin 36 goes beyond Star Wars by demonstrating convincingly that George Lucas thought small when he made Luke to reject the Dark Side. Also, all that in a show for children? Good times.

Sorakake 01

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Not seen anything quite as robust since possibly ever. Outdoes Mac F and Arashi 01. Speaking of which, need to see more to be sure before thanking Moogy.

Honoka yuri Nagisa

Monday, December 21st, 2009

An e-mail from Zyl reminded me about the lesbian danger in Precure. I was rather nonchalant about it, since Evirus did not post anything, and he is sensitive like a radio. However, based on one episode, there’s a significant, possibly meaningful asymmetry built into the character set of Precure: Nagisa is popular with girls, Honoka is popular with boys. It would not surprise me at all if one of the three unread letters that Nagisa discarded before being decked by her “phone” in fact came from Honoka (as Naruko Hanaharu was intimating). For now I continue to think that it is nothing but fan shipping, a-la Aria, but we shall see.

CJ choses Kampfer

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

She’s fed spoilers by other bloggers, even while this blog is turned into a real Kampfer-nouto for the season. A medicine for modesty!

Bets on Momotato

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

With Momotato’s once-a-year post expected tomorrow, the pool is open. I think he’s going to name Ichizon, because he liked Sunred, and they are the same, right? Right?

Omo is not eligible, because I suspect he’s got an inside track.
