Zyl considers examples of moving blog domains and pathnames. I hate when people move frivolously, because it breaks permalinks. Of course, sometimes it cannot be helped (I count the case of provider for ikimashou.net forgetting to renew it as "frivolous" (also, "idiotic")). From this point of view, however, Hinano combining with J.P. would be harmless, as long as they keep old URLs working.
UPDATE: Owen says that I'm slandering Randall. His story is that the registrar (one "Xiaodong Peng") switched off the auto-reviewal, "forgot" to remind about impeding expiration, then demanded $500 for the unparking.
