Hashi-hime calls the second season "very beautiful and extremely visually inventive", with "many images ... entrancing". And then, "the plot, characters, music, and visual and dramatic rhythms are pretty special, too." I'm still not watching it, because I'm concerned about its competition with the original in my mind. But I'm happy to hear that it's one of the good sequels.
