This is another of "my opinion is better than your opinion", but the excuse is too juicy. As seen at Hey Say Anime today:

I don't know if we can call Nodame "underhyped". Perhaps in the sense of "da industri did not spend gazillions on marketing in R1", but then it is not even available in R1 (ViZ owns the rights and sits on them like the proverbal dog on hay). But Nodame was relentlessly hyped on blogs. Even so I only watched it because my club made me. It was an anime about classical music, right? That's revolting.

Nodame Cantabile is a story about classical music.

Actually, it's not, thank goodness!

The Number One Reason why ALL OF YOU should go and watch NODAME TODAY is because of NODAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE <33333333333333

IMHO, the good thing about Nodame is how it offers more than just Nodame. My hero is definitely Milch. And Kuroki. And Saiko. It's a big field — moreso than, say, H&C. So no, I don't think Nodame is even #1 reason. But yes, she is a good one.
