Evils of Google

One of very unfortunate effects of Google Reader is that using several profiles simultaneously is a royal pain in Google Single Sing-On system (as in any other such system, e.g. Microsoft Passport aka Live.com), so most animebloggers quickly gave up on the concept and just use their main identities... with the predictable result of their readers exclaim: "Who in the world is Thomas Langston?! Sounds like a character from Dan Brown novel!" (actually it's Calaggie). I was reduced to keeping a text file which says "Paul Beaujean = Smankh, Christopher Brown = Omisyth, Stefan Bhagwandin = Eternal" etc.

The only option to stave the madness is to opt out of the system completely and simply never use the blasted thing except for Web search.

Twitter is guilty of this too, with clients commonly confusing the handle and the name, but at least most popular of them have the presentation configurable and failing that, nicks are easily seen.

UPDATE: Lolikit immediately shared this post on GRSI, just for the ironic value I guess. Curiously, he somehow got a good handle on his handle, albeit with a different handle "Flak". Fight the man?
