Reading about WAH's dating exploits, I remembered about the animeblogging hero Otaku Dan, who described his own conquest thus[1]:
If you guessed by the title, I'm currently dating a very nice girl. How we met was interesting, she attended the blogging panel I hosted at Metrocon. Every single time our eyes would meet, I would lose my train of thought. After my panel was over, I gathered some courage and asked her if she wanted to hang out with me for the rest of the day, she said yes. We talked and had a good time. When the day ended, we exchanged cell numbers and emails. We did some more talking and we confessed to each other.
It is curious in light of such a wholesome account that organizers of Las Cruces Anime Day, where I ran a panel on iDOLM@STER, made me sign an agreement that, amonth other things, stipulated:
- Panelist agrees to follow the "Two-Deep Rule": There must always be a minimum of two (2) Panelists in the presence of a single LCAD2012 attendee.
The rule is designed to prevent a contact that Otaku Dan established at Metrocon. Personally, I wasn't too bothered by this restriction, since my wife accompanied me to the con, but isn't it curious what can be found in the not-so-small print.
[1] Otaku Dan story was blogged at Ani-nouto back in the day, as an update, but it bears repeating in current context.
