One funny thought about this... I suspect strongly that in the LN author's mind, Elf and Muramasa are peers, loser comrades in the contest of love, like Ayeka and Ryoko in Tenchi. But it does not quite end like that in the actual product. Although, we may miss some cues or lack a necessary background. I heard that in Japan, Yozora and Sena of Haganai are equally popular, but in America nobody likes Yozora and Sena is overwhelmingly more popular with fans. It's easy to see why — who wants to deal with a nasty, nagging harpy? I didn't see any character polls for Eromanga-sensei in JDM, so I don't know for sure.
