When commenters at Avatar's place discussed "Gatefold" packaging versus the conventional plastic box, a thought occured to me that it's comparing bad with worse. I do not really care which one. But what I really would like publishers do is to devise a packaging which holds a DVD at the edges with good size positive retention clips in three locations. The strong forces and inevitable bending occuring with conventional packages make me uncomfortable indeed. I think if you pay $65 for Haruhi, you should be entitled to something so inexpensive as an safe package.
