MAL is acquired

Via CalAggie comes news that MyAnimeList was purchased. I expect rapid degradation, because it is obvious that the buy-out was the endgame of the founders. They will move on to their next startup now, and leave a group of paycheck feeders to maintain the rotting carcass.

It does not have to happen this way, of course. Cuong Do, the founder of YouTube, is still at Google. Also, Chris Beveridge continues to work at the remainder of AoD at Mania. But in case of MAL the rapid onset of a featuritis, Facebookisms, and short elapsed time from birth to the sale speak about intention to cash out.
