I mentioned Soul Eater recently as the series beprised really for its innovative art and setting. Well, I saw it at con today, and ZKC it ain't. In fact, it looks crude by comparison.

Creators apparently aimed for game-faithful dynamism, and made everything else cartoony. Their shimigami is a downright caricature of Grim from Billy & Mandy. The action is sharp and the story is promising (although I know that it sags as the endless stream of souls takes on the qualities of sacred jewel's shards). I'm definitely not watching that.

UPDATE: Omo is not amused, and calls Soul Eater's art style "cheap but effective". I am sure that was the plan, but I'm not so sure the creators succeeded.
