The Saimoe mystery

I fail to understand just what is so attractive about Saimoe. Kuro blogs it like crazy, and reports a lot of hits, but why? Is it like Harleys (if you have to ask, you will never understand)?

UPDATE: CCY says:

In case you’re not aware of SaiMoe, it’s essentially what you get when you mix March Madness with a popularity contest, where fans pit character against character in a series of matches which eventually determine, in a sense, the favorite (or most moe) character of 2007-2008 anime.

It’s a bit silly, but it’s all in good fun, and it’s great for analyzing just how the heart of the fandom shifts, or for seeing what’s popular, or just for watching the vote totals shift up and down. The canvassing involved, although a little messy, really embodies the intense spirit of anime fans, and so it’s a treat to watch, and maybe, participate in.
