Let Jim Kaposztas speak for himself

By way of Moritheil comes a post by one Michael Pinto, that deals with Jim Kaposztas, the inventor of AMVs, being passed for a staff position at a con.

It's important to note that Jim wasn't complaining about it. He probably just mentioned it off-hand. It was Michael who decided to make a poster case. Likely as not, Jim understands what Michael apparently does not: heroes are not supposed to be rewarded. Look at Frodo of Lord of the Rings or Simon of Gurren-Lagann [1].

I am old biologically, and I watched anime since 1969, but I associate with the "new" fans. One of the reasons is the self-righteouseness like the one demonstrated by Michael.

That fact that I hate AMVs has nothing to do with any of this.

[1] It wasn't only fiction. In the real life, look no further than President George W. Bush, who kept America safe. Ironically among those protected were some of his most vicous and vile detractors.
