I know what he's saying, and as far as it goes he's right, but I just need to snipe out one quote for absolutism (it's what I do):

Having transitioned from moonlighting as a Linux hacker (while on the day job of a sysadmin in MCST.ru back in 1994) to doing the same thing full time, I am a living, happy example of the contrary. Zyl really means something more narrow: the nasty pressure to blog, which really is no fun. But even in the anime meta the result can vary. Some people crack and start hating the anime which remains their livelyhood. Charles Solomon is one such. But I have no doubt that Chris Beveridge, for instance, still loves the last art, even if he choses to be the mouthpiece of the industry mafia. It can go either way; I promised myself to quit if I stop enjoying what I'm doing.
