This post comes a day after Tappan posts the ender, but of course I actually started a few days back. Already finished 7 episodes, even.

In general, I'm not enthusiastic about "meta" genre, where the setting is the making of anime or manga. Creators of such work seem lazy, like social sciences people who publish papers based on studies of university students. In addition, implementations are often pretty poor. I dropped Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to in the first episode. But the Girls' Monthly Nozaki-kun works, because it's honestly comedic. It is mostly the good old comedy of misunderstandings, but well done. Not overcooked.

Most of my screencaps were Chiyo-faces of various kinds. Someone put a lot of thought and sweat into drawing and animating them. Well done, fat man from Kentucky, er., anonymous animator!

He also reminded me that the opening episodes were moving at a breakneck pace, KimiNozo-style. Really, the outstanding first episode brought me in against the draw of the "meta" setting. The rest of the anime is episodic, but it's all right. I think after all these years I'm making my peace with it.
