1. Appleseed Ex Machina

I'm not dead set against 3D as such, I liked Shrek. But there's just something very wrong about the motion of people in Appleseed Ex Machina. I lasted for 24 minutes.

Maybe I'm in the Uncanny Valley with this. It certainly is pretty, in static pictures.

  2. Coburn on Arjuna

The long article at Claiming Ground was interesting to me mostly because Arjuna probably helped me to become sufficiently disgusted with enviroprop enough to see through the dirty tricks Al Gore pulled with the poor bear years later. But by now I cannot see the show other than through the …

  3. Druaga 10 (late)

Tower of Druaga is full of mysteries. I am a bit intrigued, but god help the creators if they use them for sequels. This time we learn a little bit about the mysterious duo of ghosts (I call the blue one H1 and the tan one H2), but not too …

    It …

  6. Concrete Badger on Allison and Lillia

    opens with:

I’m so strongly in two minds about Allison & Lillia: on one hand it’s old-school style feelgood entertainment that had me glued to the screen from start to finish; on the other hand the direction and screenplay writing are so amateurish that it was enough to make …

  7. Omo on anime cons

Omo shares some tips. I think, they are quite sensible. He mentions commuting, but I never commute to a con. It's just... not the same.

    BTW, one small note:

I don’t have any real numbers to back this up, but I bet more people go to any major west-coast …

  8. SDB on Haruhi

Steven posted a review of [Melanholy of] Haruhi [Suzumiya], which reiterated and assembled the points he has made before.

I only have a few small bones to pick... Firstly, Haruhi is not "gorgeous", only pretty; Ryoko is gorgeous. Also, I think Kyon is somewhat interesting character, so "Cliche" is not …
